The perfect backdrop for adventures

estled in the heart of some of the UK’s most incredible countryside, it probably won’t surprise you that there are plenty of things to do in the Cotswolds - for all ages and group sizes.

For a little bit of history…

Head to Berkeley and Thornbury Castles, both conveniently located to Newton Lodge. Choose from expert-led tours or self-guided exploration, and bring the history to life. There’s also the opportunity to enjoy a fine dining meal or afternoon tea in beautiful and historic surroundings. Tortworth Court is another historical property located a few miles away, which offers high-quality food and beverages and interesting tours.

A few other popular day trips for those enjoying a group getaway in the Cotswolds include Snowshill Manor House, Sudeley Castle and Blenheim Palace - all of which can be easily reached from Newton Lodge.

To experience the true Cotswold charm…

Look out for popular towns and Cotswolds villages like Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water and Moreton-in-Marsh - all of which boast chocolate box high streets, lined with independent shops, galleries, markets and incredible pubs and restaurants. Closer to Newton Lodge, you’ll find Thornbury, a historic market town that has served the local rural community for hundreds of years. Nowadays, it’s known for its farmers markets, attractive town centre shops and a Michelin-starred restaurant.

For lively celebrations…

You’ll be pleased to know that Bristol is around 30 minutes away. Sitting pretty on the River Avon and packed full of history, today, it’s a cultural hub home to bars, restaurants, shops, galleries, museums and more. Here, the streets come alive with art and live music. The city is made even more impressive by the rolling hills and luscious landscapes in the background. And, up and coming chefs and pop-up establishments are putting the area firmly on the foodie map.

To keep the kids, and big kids, entertained…

There’s Cotswolds Water Park, Bristol Zoo Gardens, Longleat Safari Park, and The Wave. In fact, there’s plenty of family-friendly attractions close to Newton Lodge Country House that are guaranteed to be a hit with all ages. Or, for something a little more chilled…

Of course, there’s only one way to spend your afternoon: grab your book, pour some fizz and head to the hot tub or sauna before the rest of the group get back. Pure bliss.
