The story behind Newton Lodge

Having been constructed in 1884, Newton Lodge certainly knows how to host a party - or two. The house even has a local celebrity status as it was the childhood home of a well known British TV personality. If you’re a fan, you may have heard his story about hot tub antics. But don’t worry, it’s been replaced since then.

As our family home for more than 10 years, we’ve enjoyed many lovely times at Newton Lodge with our children, grandchildren and friends. Now, we’re delighted to welcome you in… 

True Cotswold experiences

From celebrations to relaxation, Newton Lodge is the perfect base for a year-round Cotswolds staycation. Situated in a fabulous tranquil location, our Cotswolds holiday home is nestled in the countryside of Rockhampton, a small village that’s just a couple of miles from the bustling market town of Thornbury. 

Close by, you’ll find many Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty - which make this region just so popular - as well as child-friendly activities, pubs and restaurants. Mix up your days with countryside exploration, discover the local tales of years gone by and don’t forget to indulge in some of the finest food and drink in the nearby Cotswolds villages. 

A luxury bolthole

The house itself sits within six acres of private grounds, with a private enclosed fairy garden for magical moments and two impressive Sequoia trees standing at nearly 200ft tall. Venture a little further, and you’ll find a natural pond teeming with wildlife and a paddock that’s home to the local deer. If you’re lucky, you may even spot the very rare albino deer. We have an ongoing competition for the best captured picture of the dear. The winners will go into a lucky dip for a free night on their next booking! 

That’s not all that makes this Cotswolds holiday accommodation just so special. Guests also have access to a private hot tub with eight seats, an outdoor heated swimming pool (from April to September) and top of the range medical grade infrared sauna and luxurious robes and spa slippers for all. 

Boasting endless opportunities for exploration and plenty of space for outdoor activities, this Cotswold cottage is the ideal escape from life’s daily stresses - whatever they may be. 

Of course, if you prefer to stay inside, that’s where this luxury holiday cottage really comes alive. Having been recently renovated, Newton Lodge still retains its historic charm and has all the home comforts you’d need for both long and short breaks. 

On the ground floor, you’ll find: 

• A large dining room with enough space for plenty of guests - ideal for a fine dining evening in or chilled family holidays. 

• A room full of fun - our all inclusive games room, complete with a wood burning stove. 

• A modern cloakroom with WC.

• A well-equipped kitchen with two ovens, one steam oven, a microwave and breakfast bar. From here, bi-fold doors lead out into a modern enclosed courtyard with a glazed canopy that houses tables and chairs.

• An adjoining annex ground floor, which can be accessed from the courtyard or via a connecting door in the main house. Here you will find our newly renovated beauticians room including indoor sauna seating 5, and stand up tanning booth. tanning creams available on request.

• A contemporary and comfortable lounge with lots of seating, a smart TV, and a feature fireplace with a decorative gas-fired wood stove. 

• A large fully-equipped utility room. 

Head upstairs to discover:

• A family-friendly bathroom. 

• Five additional bedrooms (two en-suite) with enough space for 10 guests - each boasting beautiful views of the grounds. 

• In the grounds we also have a heated swimming pool, and Hot tub.
